Emily
Blickem
An
award-winning independent film producer & director, Emily
Blickem heads up Cambridge-based film production company,
mad&bad films.
She produced and directed her first film, Battered Sausage, in
2006 & went on to become a prolific short film producer with
flicks such as Black Box; an environmental comedy written and directed by Emily, The Horsemen and Burning Love. Many of these have screened internationally as well as closer to home at the Cambridge Film Festival.
Emily has worked with Screen East and the UK Film Council on a number of
occasions including the Digital Shorts Blood on his Hands and Grace, and onto
Curtains, co-written & co-directed by Julian Barratt.
Emily's films have been receiving international acclaim, screening at
festivals across the globe including a nomination for Blood on His
Hands at London's renowned indie fest, Raindance.
Emily has also worked on a number of projects with production companies
such as Warp Films & Celador Films, and co-produced a Made Up North
Productions short drama, Waving at Trains, starring Pete
Postlethwaite.
As a director, she has gained much success with the seaside musical, One Little Step. This magical short was a hit on the festival circuit, including a win at the Curzon's Gotta Dance Film Festival and the Audience Choice Award at the Stamford Film Festival. Next up is the short film Cape, which will hit the festivals in 2010.
As well as continuing to work on external projects there are an eclectic mix of features bubbling to the surface for Emily and mad&bad films.
